Bad Treatment by Aerolineas Argentinas-- overbooked a flight     Post a reply to this message

I wish to alert the world to the miserly manner in which the Aerolineas Argentinas treated me and my traveling companion when we were among the 6 passengers with confirmed reservations who were denied boarding of the flight
Departure: 07:50 Buenos Aires, Argentina - Jorge Newbery
Arrival: 09:35 Iguazu, Argentina - Cataratas
on December 18m 2006. We were re-booked two flights later a flight that was to depart at 12:25 pm but actually departed around 3 pm and thus arrived at Iguazu around 5 pm. The compensation offered for a voucher for "breakfast" which turned out (when presented at the cafeteria) was only valid for one cup of coffee and two SMALL couisants. Being a diabetic on insulin, this was a very inadequate fare fare for the duration of the waiting period for the substituted aircraft to depart. Arriving at the Sheraton Hotel at Iquazu Falls after 5:30 pm, we found the Iquazu Falls National Park trails had closed at 5:15 pm because of concern of the Park officials that visitors might end up being in the jungle-like park after nightfall at 9 pm (3 days short of the longest day in the year in the southern hemisphere. So the inconvenience of being denied boarding on the 7:50 am flight resulted in depriving us of any opportunity to enter the pathways of the Iquazu Park on what was to be a 2-day visit to Iquazu Falls. Since US airlines frequently offer a $400 compensation for being denied boarding a flight on which a passenger holds a confirmed reservation, I feel it was despicable for the Aerolineas Argentinas personnel to have merely given us a voucher for a single cup of coffee and two small lousy couisants.
This airline does not give a damn as to how inconvienced a passenger is made while the airline strives to greedily rake in revenue by seriously overbooking flights.
