rip off competition - it was lunch time at school and my friend had brought his mobile into school. there was this crisp packet next to us which had this txt to win competition on. i showed it to him and he said nice and entered for the comp. next day we were going home on the bus and he was on his phone and he got a txt. it said he had won the competition and he only had 9 hours to reply otherwise his prize of ï¿½900.00. yes thats ï¿½900.00 would become invalid. he got home and rang the the hot line up and spent ï¿½5.00 on calling them and was cut off during his phone call because he ran out of credit. he hurried down to his local post office and got ï¿½10.00 credit realising that if he completed this phone call he could have ï¿½900.00. so he didnt care about this measley ï¿½10.00. he rang up the hot line again and talked to them he was on his last part of the phone call, he knew this because it said please state youre age and address and then your prize will be delivered to you. he had just started saying his address when he got cut off due to his credit running out. pretty gutted he had wasted ï¿½15.00. and boy did his mum shout at him. actually she didnt his family dont know yet. so between you me and about 100,000 other people who have seen this DONT TELL !!!!!!!!!!!

I have had an O2 pay montly phone for 5 months, and have not recieved 1 sms spam text message. I used to hav a t-mobile pay as you go mobile, and received several sms spam text messages a week. I would often receive one about 8am every satuday morning telling me ive won a prize, call to claim it. This is one of the reasons i changed networks from t-mobile to O2.

So for anyone still not sure, the abbreviation 'ppm' = 'pence per minute' and can be found in almost every one of these messages (the regulator ICSTIS stipulates that this information must be included).
